Helping Foster Children Thrive
We Care Foster Care’s mission is to ensure that all children in the foster care and child welfare system thrive by connecting the community’s generosity and resources with a child’s hopes and needs.
This is how it works:
The WCFC Website
Our website offers an online “matchmaking” service for foster children and families who need assistance and the people who want to help them.
Social Media Outreach
WCFC actively reaches out to a dedicated community of supporters who provide everything from cribs and computers to salon services and sports equipment.
The WCFC Help Closet
The Help Closet is a free “department store” where foster care workers can “shop” for new and gently-used, donated items for the children and families in their care.

The effects of childhood abuse and neglect don't stop with the child who has been hurt — they are generational. But when you make a positive change in the life of a child, that change also has a ripple effect — to their children, and their children's children.

OUR DONORS
WCFC is proud to have the support of companies and organizations that share our dream of making it possible for metro Detroit's foster children to thrive.

Holy Cross's Samaritan Center has hosted our Help Closet rent free since 2012 — and gave us an even larger home in 2016. www.samaritan-center.net

The Seed Foundation. This private, Detroit-area foundation has been a major supporter of ours since our founding in 2005. Today, the foundation provides year-round funding for everything from new beds to helping make it possible for us to emerge from our former parent organization, the Detroit Bar Association Foundation.

The Faith Communities Coalition on Foster Care. This organization and its coordinator, the Rev. Dr. Kate Thoresen of Birmingham's First Presbyterian Church, has provided us with lots of opportunities to receive support from metro Detroit-area faith communities. www.faithcommunitiescoalition.org

Detroit and Grosse Pointe Rotarians, including the Grosse Pointe Sunrise Rotarians, have supported our work since the 2012 founding of our Help Closet — and in 2016 alone provided “our” children in foster care with over 250 brand new coats through Operation Warm! www.grossepointerotary.org. www.facebook.com/GrossePointeSunriseRotary
