Our goal is to teach foster youth to become their own advocates, allowing them to discover what they are capable of accomplishing.

ADVOCACY IS EMBEDDED

IN EVERYTHING WE DO.

As foster youth age out of the foster care system, they face newly acquired adult responsibilities for which they are often ill-prepared.

Our LifeCare and AdvoCare programs are designed to assist these young adults in obtaining the skills, goods, and services necessary to lead a successful independent life.

Not only are we advocates on behalf of aging-out foster youth, we also help them understand that their voices deserve to be heard as well.

We Care has identified several serious problems within the foster care system that need addressing. Currently, We Care’s advocacy prioritizes the following:

EDUCATIONAL ADVOCACY

• Requesting the creation of a centralized school records system

• Ensuring the transfer of school credits between schools

• Identifying legal parent representatives for educational matters

LIFECARE ADVOCACY

• Navigating the courts and other government systems

• Extending/Expanding wraparound services for youth exiting residential care

• Locating safe and appropriate housing for aging-out youth
